My new site-specific sound sculpture, Recurrences, will open on September 16 as part of the first edition of the Biennale Son in the Valais region of Switzerland. This ambitious event will span 17 venues in 5 towns, with over 70 featured artists. My piece will be presented in a group show at La Centrale, a now defunkt hydro plant in Sion, alongside works by Alvin Curran, Christian Marclay, Marina Rosenfeld, Felicia Atkinson, Latifa Echakhch and more.

Recurrences (2023) returns the original source of energy from the Grande Dixence dam to La Centrale via intimate recordings made around and within the dam itself. This energetic material is relocated back into the dormant hydro plant as a memory or ghost, emerging from a still vessel of water surrounded by the distant sounds of its now empty house. 

The Biennale Son runs from September 16 – October 29, 2023 with a wonderful performance program staggered throughout the exhibitions. Full details on the program and venues here.
